You can have results or excuses, but not both

Chris Solly  //  About Me

I always focus on my clients drive to change their lives for the better giving them confidence and guidance to achieve their goals faster and safer.

I joined the Army at a young age and completed an 11 year stint in the infantry including time serving with the United Nations in Bosnia. During this time I competed in a multitude of sports including Boxing, Athletics, Rugby, Football and completed a Services Assistant Personal Trainer course, this involved helping to train soldiers for the rigours of their job, featuring pre-selection training for the SAS.

After completing my service I went into business, ultimately finding myself in highly stressful and overworked management positions while still training the mind and body and staying fit.

I have been a group instructor at Bodyfix Gym for 6 years, ultimately completing a double diploma in Fitness and Business. I understand the stress that comes with high pressure work and family life – because I have been there!!!

Chris has been the perfect ally to get me interested in getting fitter as well as healthier and removing my reservations about being a regular gym visitor again.

We had good clear conversations about my goals and Chris quickly developed programmes which are helping my fitness and strength improve noticeably already. There’s plenty of variety to each session and he has a keen eye for getting my technique right so as to maximise benefits of each work out. Chris makes it enjoyable whilst also being the positive motivator I need.

George Byrne

This is to confirm that in early March Chris Solly completed a personal assessment of my deteriorating physical condition and gave me an activities program supported with dietary advice to help me to build strength and increase my mobility. The program has emphasised the need to progress slowly so as to avoid stress on my physical weaknesses which include a Plate in my lower spine, several clips in my central spine, ongoing disc deterioration and 2 ceramic ½ knee joints.

Chris has started me off with walking around Hagley Park 4 times a week and including in my walks some leg squats and chest presses, both using seats that are situated around the park. He has also given me a short gym program that I follow several times a week. I document everything that I do so that we can track progress. He has also helped me obtain a “Green Prescription” from the City Council and Sport Canterbury so that I can use the Swimming Pools in Christchurch.

I am pleased to be able to report that with Chris’s encouragement, checking up and occasional vigorous prodding I am making good progress. I have lost 1.5kg in weight over the last 2 months and I am definitely feeling much better in myself. I still have a sleeping
problem, but that too, is getting better. I should make the point that I have known Chris as a friend for a long time and that he has
taken me on as a personal favour, as I cannot afford to pay him for his time. I am very appreciative of the effort to support me that Chris has made, and the results that we are achieving.

I am 72 years old next month (June) and I have always been very active. I had let my injuries get on top of me and was becoming rather house bound before Chris’ intervention. There is no doubt that he has reversed that trend and has been instrumental in teaching me that living alone doesn’t mean you should be lonely or inactive.

I think that there is a very real benefit for people my age to enjoy the feel good factor that comes with exercise, whether in groups or as an individual and I would recommend Chris Solly’s involvement without reservations.
